Residents are tenants
They sign a lease, manage their own lives, and live with housemates—not staff.

About the housing providers
Josh and Steph Thorn created LaunchPoint Living to offer young adults a calm, honest place to practice living on their own without turning housing into a treatment program.
See If LaunchPoint FitsMeet Josh
LaunchPoint Living was created by Josh, a licensed clinical social worker, private-practice therapist, and experienced housing provider who has spent more than a decade working with adolescents and young adults.
Josh and his wife, Steph, manage three rental properties in Utah County. Josh also operates Sunny Day Counseling, a private practice in Provo, Utah.
Before opening Sunny Day Counseling, Josh spent more than ten years working at Telos Academy, where he worked closely with adolescents and young adults facing a variety of challenges.
Over the years, Josh noticed a common gap for many capable young adults: the transition from living at home to managing life independently can be harder than expected.
He has worked with college students who were capable of succeeding academically but struggled when they suddenly had to manage everything that came with living on their own—keeping up with responsibilities, managing their time, shopping and preparing meals, maintaining a routine, and making good decisions without the structure they had at home.
“Some young adults don’t need someone to take care of them. They need an opportunity to learn how to take care of themselves—with just enough support to help them succeed.”
— Josh Thorn, LCSW
The idea
LaunchPoint is designed to give young adults the experience of independent living while providing a little more structure, accountability, and access to support than a traditional college rental.
The goal isn’t dependence. It’s independence.
Josh will conduct the regular check-ins with residents and help create an environment where young adults can develop the skills, confidence, and habits they need to move forward successfully.
Optional additional support
Living at LaunchPoint does not require therapy or counseling. However, residents who would like additional support may have the option of working with Josh through Sunny Day Counseling under a separate agreement.
Support may include coaching around organization, time management, life skills, goals, or other challenges that come with becoming more independent. Therapy services are also available when clinically appropriate.
Because finding the right therapist or coach matters, Josh is happy to help connect residents with another professional if he isn’t the right fit.
LaunchPoint Living is about giving young adults a place to take their next step—not telling them how to live their lives.
Clear roles
Josh’s professional background is relevant, but it does not change the legal or practical nature of the tenancy.
They sign a lease, manage their own lives, and live with housemates—not staff.
They are included in rent and encouraged, but never required. They are not therapy or supervision.
Any optional coaching or clinical relationship requires its own agreement, consent, scheduling, and billing.
